Qui in basso, la sua presentazione:
I was born in Cairo, Egypt, but grew up between Egypt and the UK. Thus, I am proficient in Arabic (mother tongue) and English (near native). I have been in Pisa since 2010 for my PhD studies at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, where I am currently completing my Doctoral studies in Political economy and Human rights. Having graduated from a German language school in Egypt, where I earned my German language diploma, I am also proficient in German. Even though my studies and work experience focus on the fields of political economy, development and human rights, I have been a regular freelance writer writing short articles in business/economic magazines in English as well as recently writing political Op-eds on Egypt and the Arab world. I have, moreover, worked in translation from Arabic to English and vice versa during my work in a regional civil society organization based in both Cairo and Geneva. There, I have also been the main editor of the English version of the bi-annual reports and press releases; that is in addition to editing and proof-reading Doctoral and Masters theses in both English and Arabic and aiding researchers working on the Middle Eastern region in translation from Arabic to English and/or German.
As such, my expertise covers both printed and digital published material (magazines, books, conference publications, flyers, brochures, reports, press releases, etc.), the web (website editing and writing, social media, etc.) in the fields of humanities and social sciences, law (particularly international law and human rights, business, finance and marketing).
My professional experience in translation is mainly from Arabic to English and vice versa; and from German to English and/or Arabic. I also regularly proof-read and edit academic articles and theses. For those interested in the Arabic or English languages, I can give conversational classes in both languages (either physically or through Skype).
My most inspirational quote is: “Believe you can and you’re halfway there” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
